My fiance and I have argued for a long time about the exact day rent for an apartment it due. She says it is due on the last day of the month prior (so December 31 for January.) I say iy is due on the first day of the month. Who is right? What is the normal day for this?

Check your lease. If you are still confused, talk to your superintendent or landlady. Usually the day isn't an exact day but something like "the first, but with a grace period of 7 days, at which point there is a late fee."
You should have gone over that when you signed the lease.
I check my online bank statements. My landlady never deposits the checks until like the 5th anyway, but I like to hand her the check on the 31st. We're on good terms.

The rent is due the First day of the month, and is to be payed by the Fifth day of the month unless otherwise adjusted on your rental agreement. Look at your rental agreement and see what it says. I am a landlady in California.

It's usually the first of the month, but many people like to get it there earlier. And some places give a five day grace period, or until the fifth, without late charges.

In most cases it's due the first day of the month, but the actual date may vary depending on your lease agreement.

It all depends on the building, but normally the cheque must be received before the end of the 1st day of the month. Either way, does it really matter if you drop it off on the 31st or the 1st? Chances are that it will be deposited on the same day regardless of when you drop it off.

Read your lease! It will state right on there when it is due.

Rent due on the 1st of the month (for that month) with the 5th being the last date before it is over-due is pretty standard, however.

The final condominium I rented had a penalty if the hire became won after the 5th day of the month. My workplace hire is due on the 1st and has a penalty after the 10th. So it varies from hire to hire.

At most places, it is the first day of the month, but usually you are allowed a five-day grace period. For example, I could get away with paying it any day before the 6th.

It depends on the rental agreement. Read it and it will tell you exactly when yours is due. Yes, there are norms, but you need to know exactly what your lease says.
