Your dog canot catch the human flu; however, they can catch a different string of the flu called Canine Influenza.

"SITUATION: Researchers report that outbreaks of canine influenza virus, which causes an acute respiratory infection, have been identified in dogs in shelters, humane societies, boarding facilities and veterinary clinics in throughout the USA.

This highly contagious virus is a newly emerging respiratory pathogen in dogs and causes a clinical syndrome that mimics “kennel cough.” Canine influenza virus infections are frequently mistaken for infections due to the Bordetella bronchiseptica/parainfluenza virus complex."

Probbaly not. a Virus usually targets your cells specific DNA. Viruses are very specific about what sort of cells they can attack. If your cells don't have the right DNA, a virus can't do anything to it. That's not to say that certain diseases can't jump across species, we have seen Bird flu do it in a few cases, but the general rule is no.

This only pertains to viruses mind you. the Flu is a virus. If you simply have a bacterial infection that is something that could spread from species to species.

Nope. Dogs are not affected by the influenza virus. (lucky them!)

note: if your vet said your dog can catch your flu or cold, then find a different vet.
