This happens to me every time I get a cold/sinus infection. Here's what I do, and it works....if it's the left nostril, lay on your right side, and opposite if it's the right one. It takes a few minutes to work, and the congestion rotates, but at least it's temporary relief...besides nasal spray or sudafed. I'm not a doctor, obviously, and don't know why that happens. But hope this helps a little.

I also have the same problem; mine occured after a nose injury. I've done some research about it and I've read that this could indicate a deviated septum, unless you're allergic to something or have sinuses, that could also be the cause. I myself am a bit scared about going to the doctor with this issue because I don't know if it can be fixed easily or if it will require a surgical procedure.

Well I'm not a Dr but sometimes I have weird things like that. My Dr gave me some
"Rhino Court" and it works great ! I use it once a day when that starts happening and that's it,solves the problem.

Good luck & God Bless !

Yep, you can lay on one side and feel all the fluid drain from one nostril down into the other, it's really weird.

Pick that booger from your nose. That should clear it up.

Just kidding. Sounds like what others have been saying - deviated septum.
