Last night we went out and had a couple of drinks, we went to go eat after and I paid as usual. I asked him for some advice on my proposal for a promotion at work; he said some hurtful things to me. I could not hold it in and just started to cry, he screamed and called me a faker and that just made me cry even harder. He walked away and came back and I was still crying and I told him to leave and he walked home. Now he does not want nothing to do with me is it because I cried? What should I do to make it better?

He doesn't hate you--he's afraid and doesn't know how to deal with someone who cries. He's probably afraid that you are getting promoted, too, and what does that say about him--he should be happy for you. Now I've said that--here's the important thing--DROP HIM!

Go for the promotion if it is what you want and will make you happy. Yes, some new duties might be uncomfortable, but the best thing you can do for yourself is to build your self-esteem so you don't get in this situation again. And believe me (I've been there) it will happen again and again until you understand you deserve better. Others do not appreciate you if you do not allow them to give something to you--I assume you enjoy giving, guess what, any self-respecting partner is the same. Your pattern--"you paid as usual", says you are in a very bad, recurring behavior.

I'm not sure you WANT to make it better - he sounds like a real jerk. Saying hurtful things and screaming at you? Dump him now.

To answer your question, however, a lot of guys react badly to crying. It's called "emotional blackmail" and for good reason - it triggers a response in guys that makes them want to stop it, but they don't know how to shut off the faucets. To many guys, it feels like women use it when they're losing an argument - it's an "illogical" trump card. Some women DO use crying this way - but for most, it's just a healthy reaction.

You shouldn't be afraid to cry - and if he's afraid of you doing so, leave him and find someone else who's not.

maybe he was unhappy from the beginning. from what i read at the top, he didn't care for you at all! if he did he would of had comfort you and your promotion at work, and he don't never pay! then to top it off when you started to cry he didn't try to make you feel better, instead he yelled at you! so NO, he don't hate you for crying, he just don't want to be with you. sorry to say, but its the truth! you don't need someone who will bring you down and you don't need someone who really don't care for you, so if you read between the lines you will see that I'm telling you to get rid of him!.... no matter how hard it is! You will see that it was harder for him to stay than for him to leave.

That is odd, but there are many reasons that a 2 year old could have been down. My own 2 year old has not had any problems with going to daycare, but recently started to get this big time seperation anxiety. Nothing has changed at daycare or with my schedule. Maybe he is just starting to realize that you are pregnant and are expecting a new addition to the family and it is confusing to him. Or maybe he was just feeling a bit under the weather...

It sounds like maybe some girl manipulated him in the past by crying in order to get her way. Just let him know that he genuinely hurt your feelings. If he can't handle it, then stay away from him. He will only continue to hurt you.

Guys hate it when chicks cry. The reason is because we feel so sorry for you. You make us feel guilty. Some guys can't handle it, and want to escape the situation. I think he will get over it. Be careful when you cry though, it freaks guys out.

Crying just like walking outside with your pants down to your ankles. Every ones sees your very soft and luscious side. We guys don't like that. A good women is a strong women. So please keep stiff upper lip.
