My school always puts all the emphasis on the TAKS test(Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills). It's all we do all year. We have a new principal, I don't know what to think about her. Our last principal, Mrs. Andrus, was all fake cheery and called us all 'friends'. She drove me crazy. We got really high scores on our test though, but the pressure didn't help much. I like my school, I really do, but how can I complain anonymously?

Ah, the system wins again! It's sad, really, on how almost nothing can change the minds of the people in charge.

Ah, you are from Texas. So am I and I can assure you that the vast majority of teachers and administrators feel the same way about the TAKS tests as you do. However, we are employees of the state and our state legislators mandate the laws regarding testing and that controls curriculum, funding, salaries, job opportunities and everything else. In our last election we tried to make our voice heard. We were successful in some races not so in others. You are within your rights to complain as we all are, but the reality is that Austin makes the rules and we must abide by them.

You know that it is every where, kids are only learning to pass a test its sad, the higher kids, should say students, score, the more money the school system gets. Good luck and know your not the only one.
