Right now in Toronto (Jan 5) it is 13 Degrees Celcius, usually it is -2. They are saying that it is the warmest year ever on record this year.
Im not complaining, I hate snow and cold but I dont want to be warm at the expense of the world.
I find it very frightening, anyone else?

I do. I live in Montreal and it's 11 and usually it's under 0. The weather is changing everywhere and it's creepy. I wonder how long it's going to take before people start reacting.

No I'm lovin it. Global warming is sketchy at best. Below is a link taking you to a NASA chart showing the temperature change from 1880 to 2005. Since 1880 the earth's temperature has risen less than 7/10 of 1 degree C. See for yourself here: http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/2005/2005cal_fig1.gif

There are numerous charts all over the internet showing the same. The fact that people choose to ignore the facts of these charts shows that they have an agenda to convince the masses of something that really is not happening.

In fact here's a link to a secular scientific article that shows the earth was actually warmer in the past than it is today.

And here's an article from a Harvard University study that says: "Such claims have now been sharply contradicted by the most comprehensive study yet of global temperature over the past 1,000 years. A review of more than 240 scientific studies has shown that today's temperatures are neither the warmest over the past millennium, nor are they producing the most extreme weather - in stark contrast to the claims of the environmentalists.
The review, carried out by a team from Harvard University, examined the findings of studies of so-called "temperature proxies" such as tree rings, ice cores and historical accounts which allow scientists to estimate temperatures prevailing at sites around the world.

The findings prove that the world experienced a Medieval Warm Period between the ninth and 14th centuries with global temperatures significantly higher even than today."

I hope that helps...

I used to be scared of a lot of things until they drove me nuts and I could not concentrate on doing the things I should be doing. Actually, "global warming" is a very loose term. It is true that it's happening, but simply because that's the way Earth is due to increase in the number of inhabitants. In fact, global warming had started a LOOOOONG time ago... hint: the "Ice Age". Back in that era, the world population was not even half of what it is today, yet mountains & seas of ice still melt away... & human had little to do with it.

Not at all. Records have only been kept for a little over a hundred years, and less than half of that has been accurate, which is not nearly enough time to come to any conclusions about it.

However, forensic and geological evidence indicates that those temperatures are well within the normal range for the climate.

You can run in circles and squawk like the global warming crowd is doing or you can look to real scientific research and be patient long enough for real, unbiased science to come to rational conclusions. Your choice but I feel really silly running in circles flapping my arms and squawking.

Not really.

Global warming is a reality we need to get used to because idiots like Bush refuse to believe the connection between his country's massive emissions and damage to the environment.

Unless we all get serious about it a bit sharpish, we'll not stop it from happening.

As mankind does not have a very good track record in this respect, I am almost resigned to the inevitable and am already dusting off my deckchair for the next warmest summer ever since records began ever ever ever.

some scientists believe that it has happened before and that the earth is getting warmer it is just a small step to another ice age and even if all the ice on earth does melt the world will not be coverd in water just more than what is right now i think i heard about a mile or so higher which if you think about it isnt that much so global warming may be only a small problem to a bigger one

it is frightening, but I believe it is due to a natural process of the earth. the earth was once in an ice age, and has probably been warming up ever since, then we will go through a hot period, then the earth will cool and fall back into another ice age.

2006 actually saw the largest amount of glaciers and ice shelves breaking off into the ocean due to higher temperatures.. something is definately happening, something we may or may not see in our lifetimes. and the most frightening part is, not knowing.

Global temperature, has been going up since the last ice age.

Bad luck it didn t stop.

Worse, it is rising extremely fast since we have records (157 years ago) and even faster along the last 50 years and they predict that 2007 will be a record

and no prediction that it will stop

yes, maybe we should do something

Not really since in the United States it's colder than usual. They had a Major ice storm across the central plains and here in California it's a lot colder than usual. It's just crazy weather this year.
