I have been eating healthy and exercising....burning more cals than I eat. I'm drinking alot of water. That's basically it, simple. Why cant I lose weight???? All I hear from doctors is "all you have to do is exericise and eat healthy and you'll drop pounds". Well, that aint happening! What's the deal?

Because this damages your metabolism. It works at first, but over time, your metabolic hormones get out of whack, and your body becomes convinced it is starving and starts holding on to every molecule of fat. Muscle weighs more than fat so you might keep the same weight for a while but you will notice your body changing. Things begin to tighten and lift.

If you're really overweight then some people drop tons of weight at first and then hit a wall. It's stubborn fat that is hard to get off.

Just keep it up. It's more about being healthy than a number on a scale. I'm sure you look great and will continue to look great

*Oh, I reread your question....you need to eat healthy and balanced meals. Don't try and starve yourself and exercise like crazy. That is very unhealthy and can cause health problems. Nothing like being skinny and malnourished. I don't know if that's what your doing or not. Just wanted to throw this in just in case.

It will take time. You can lose about a pound a week the healthy way (which it sounds like you are doing), but water weight and muscle gain can also mask any progress you've made on the scale. Don't get discouraged by what your scale is telling you. Instead, measure your body fat percentage every few weeks to track your progress. What you are describing is a very common discouragement for people, but you are on the right track.

Maybe that particular system of dieting doesn't work for your immune system, maybe you should try something else. Like exercising and eating healthy is always good maybe it just needs something more.
Also, what I do is: I don't snack, only have three meals a day and that's it. Drink lots of milk, anytime you want have milk, but don't have ANYTHING after eight o clock at night. That means that I'm hungry in the morning for breaky, which is the most important meal of the day. I find if I do eat after eight I gain if I don't I lose. Hope this helps.

It might be your metabolism, but it could be something else.

If you were not at all fit when you started your workout regimen, you have to understand that you are building muscle as you get more and more fit.

Muscle weighs more than fat.

So, if you workout routines had you attaining basic fitness FIRST, then just be patient and respect the process.

After you have that basic fitness you will lose the weight, you just need to be sure to stick with it...

Are you tracking your body fat percentage? You might be increasing the amount of muscle you have, which is denser than fat. Your measurements may be smaller, but your weight the same. Eventually, you'll lose weight, too. It takes a little time to start seeing results.

Ditto to the previous answer. Too many people don't realize that a slow metabolism forces your body to adapt to storing as much energy as possible, that's how humans evolved to survive. When the caveman starved for weeks until he could find his next meal, his/her body adapted to using less calories for any given activity in order to survive.

i am assuming that you had your thyroid level checked. do you record your calorie intake? and calculate calories burned based on you activity. that is impressive. your metabolism is sluggish for some reason. do some research on the foods/drinks that you are consuming. one of them may be the culprit. try some metabolism enhancers, chromium picolinate, hot peppers/cayenne, omega fatty acids,alfalfa, and hawthorn. just to name a few. good luck.

Get your thyroid tested. Been there, done that. TELL your doctor you want your thyroid tested. It's a start.

You didn't mention what you do to exercise...I wonder if your gaining muscle weight.
