Why do some people enter new relationships while still having an emotional attachment to their previous mate/spouse?

Some people feel they need to have someone by their side all the time. And they enjoy sharing feelings with someone, and they cant go a day without dating a guy/girl. So, if they went through a tough relationship, they make it up by getting a new love in their life as a replacement.

i would say mainly is because they fear to be alone and also to bury the whatever "hurt" they felt from their last relationship - more like a rebound kind of thing
