I live in Norwalk Ct...it is 42 miles to NYC, but the traffic sux..it can take two hours to drive

According to Google maps, it's 117 miles or about 2 hours and 20 minutes drive. (I used "From: Connecticut; To: New York City")

It depends on where in Connecticut. If you are just going to Stamford over the border then the northern parts of NYC are less than 10 miles from CT. If you are talking extreme eastern CT like Mystic CT then along the I-95 turnpike it is about 100 miles.

From Albany, New York to Hartford, Connecticut is about 110 miles. That's drving distance.

Any of the mapping services, yahoo, google, mapquest, will give you both a route and a distance between any two addresses in the US. Seriously

I think you should just visit mapquest.com and you can get your direct trip from there and more.
