Hmm, not sure about my first choice but Led Zeppelin's "In my time of dying" from their album "Physical Graffitti" springs to mind. It's based on an old track by one of the early American blues players Blind Willie Johnson and his song "Jesus, make up my dying bed". I have a compilation album of Blind Willie Johnson called "Praise god I'm satisfied". He sings the title track of this song on the album with his wife.
I'm talking about really early blues music here. 1920-1945. The recordings are quiet rough, but alot of these guys were preachers and deeply holy men. And they have gone on to influence alot of heavy weight musicians like the Rolling Stones and Hendrix. The sentiment on some of these songs are quiet strong and sincere and while I'm not in the slightest bit religious it shows how incredible beautiful and sublime the blues can be.

When I was a born-again Christian (I converted in my teens) I loved "How Great Thou Art" and even sang it in church a couple of times. I can still appreciate the spirit of it in relation to the breathtaking universe of which we are a part.
