i say never go on a diet, change your eating style for life, You can loose weight on a diet but if you go back to the same eating habits you will gain it back and probbally more. What I do is I eat breakfast, lunch and then for supper I make up a fruit drink, I have cut way down on my meat consumption. I have lost weight and I plan to stay on for life, and I get out for a walk every day. good luck and I hope you prosper in anything you try.
