I have dreamed of being in the ministry since I was 13. I just never considered myself that intelligent and I have had many other dreams that turned out to be pie in the sky stuff. At one time I was going into the preaching ministry and even preached some sermons in my church and led devotionals for a few groups. I got positive feedback from a lot of people. However, a few negative comments from a few people who had not heard me preach caused me to go into teaching. They thought I was too timid to be a minister. I am now rethinking if I should have gone into the ministry. I think up sermon ideas all the time and have done so since I was a teen. Any advice?

Being timid does not mean you are not suited for ministry. God calls us all into ministry. Matthew 28:18-20. However, do you desire to serve in ministry full time? That is the question you have to ask. No matter what you choose God will be with you and you can do work for his kingdom!

First, I am an aethist -remember that -

Thinking up sermons could be a great thing, however consider what it is you are trying to do with the sermons. You are either -1. trying to teach rigid moral value that breaks under real world enviroments, 2. spread the word of your religeon, 3. try to help people by showing the bibles parables, and give comfort in the idea we are not alone.

If you honestly consider what your sermons are for, and NEVER ( and be honest with yourself) is it about 1 or 2. then please go into the ministry. As soon as possible. Your religeon needs you. If you have EVER thought about 1 or 2. stay a teacher. your religeon has too many of you.

You know in your Heart,You wiil not be truly satisfied doing anything else.as to "negative comments" it goes with the territory
matter of fact,if you don"t get Negative comments, there would be a problem. In every place I have worked, there are Negatives.
My advice, seek God with your whole Heart,He does answer,
sometimes He will place you in a holding pattern,You desire to be a Minister,God will put you thru Boot Camp.especialey during this closing out time of Church Age.

when it's right, it shouldn't matter what others think. when you are ready you know. Sounds like the Holy spirit is urging you in a direction and you are uncertain about it yourself... Remember Moses? He actually argued with God about His dicision, explaining how he was slow to speach, how could God possibly pick him.

It doesn't matter who we are or who we THINK we are, God knows us better than we do and He knows our capabilities, and He will change us to suit His needs along with ours.

We as CHristians who are called to do God's work, need to focus on God's perspective of how God looks at us, and we shouldn't look to others for advice(life changing decisions-- consult God) or confirmation, especially those who are not like minds.
You have a lot to learn and the Ministry is just the place to teach you. It is a place that will give you the confidence and the assuradness you need! ( When you are ready)
YOu will know, sometimes you just have to take that leap of faith and just do it! your dreams will stop once they do. That doesn't mean that you did wrong, it means that the Holy Spirit did His job! He set you on the right path!
God knows your heart and He is willing to use you, now you have to allow Him.

you know, Jeremiah had doubts as a youth too, and the Lord told him not to be worried about his age. read up Jeremiah, and pray over your questions, im sure God will answer you clearly :)

If you have a word in season from God, having the opportunity to preach it to others will be great Since you are already in the ministry, let me remind you on what the Bible says. it says you shall not condemn what you have already approved, or you'll be eating of the fruits of sin, for without faith it's sin. Be of good cheer!

I had a good friend that said God wanted him to go into the priesthood, months later he changed his mind, sometimes people think God calls them to do things, when its just thier own personal ambitions taking over.
