All the posters are correct. Poor little tyke has just had his whole world collapse for him.

If you would like to help ease his stress, shock and trauma you can get a bottle of Rescue Remedy from a health foods store for $16 and treat him with that. You just shake the bottle well and put three or four drops on the fur between his ears - at least four times a day for a week or ten days. It will make the adjustment easier on him emotionally. Time will do the job and I repeat the RR will just make him more comfortable and the adjustment go more smoothly.

If the kitten tends to "hide out" under a bed or somewhere you can put the RR drops on a small cloth and put it with him in his hiding place. It will work that way too. "Refresh" the drops on the cloth four times a day too.

He is just missing his mum that's all, it will be a scary old world out there

If you want to make him feel a bit more secure get him a small teddy or something that he can sleep with, he won't feel as alone. I've known someone who cut open the teddy bear and put an old watch inside it, then sewed it back up - the watch ticking was like a heart beat - kitten didnt miaow for weeks and settled really quickly

All the kittens usually do that. They are brought to this mysterious place (your house) and doesn't know what to do or where to go. Give your cat some love; get a feather from the pet srore and play with him. Pet him. Spend time with him and in no time he'll be yours. My cats use to do that when they were kittens but I've done this and they love me a lot now. Hope this helps! Good luck.

hes obviously missing his mum, which is nothing unusual!! get him a bed that has a roof, like a cove bed so its dark and give him something warm to curl up in!! its a whole different thing for a kitten to leave mum, he will soon settle! good luck :)

He keeps meowing because he is not used to being alone. Just keep him as close to you as possible. He will stop crying once he gets used to it all. Maybe it will take about a week or so.

well its pretty obvious it misses its mom, and besides cats meow all the time, especially at the young age, even 9 months is pretty young. it misses its mom and its just meowing because thats what cats do.

It's because he's lonely. If you don't have any other cats for him to play with, this is going to happen. That's why having two cats is much better than just one.
