The word slay appears 136 times in the King James translation of the Holy Bible, 10 times in Palmer’s English translation of the Holy Qur’an. Here’s just a few samples of out of context verses that one can find in the Bible regarding the slaying of infidels (unbelievers):

"That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman."
(King James Bible, 2chronicles 15:13)

"If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die."
(King James Bible, Deuteronomy 13:6-10)

"But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me."
(King James Bible, Luke 19:27)

(King James Bible, Exodus 32:27)

"And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity: 9:6 Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary."

"And the company shall stone them with stones, and dispatch them with their swords; they shall slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire."
(King James Bible, Ezekiel 23:47)

"And the LORD said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel. And Moses said unto the judges of Israel, Slay ye every one his men that were joined unto Baalpeor."

"Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves."
(King James Bible, Numbers 31:17-18)

If one were to measure the “peacefulness” of a religion based upon context-free verses such as these, who could rightly claim that Christianity is more “peaceful” in its teachings than Islam?

If my brother attempted to convinced me to “serve other gods” (see Deuteronomy 13:6-10 above) and I stoned him to death could I rightly claim to be following the teachings of Christ and be representative of Christianity?

Islam is a true religion.IF yu translate the word Islam in to English it means Peace,
Islam is a peaceful religion but i belive that people have so many mis conceptions about Islam and they use bad words for it,but before saying anything else about any religion you should make a search for it and study it,so study about the both religins and choose the best

Christianity is composed of many different religions which I'm assuming you know since you definitely did your research on this topic.
I am a catholic and although the old testament states "eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth" Jesus came and told us that "if you're hit put your other cheek out".
The Islamic religion is very devoted and meant to be peaceful, although sometimes it was taught otherwise by its founder, about people who did not share the same beliefs.

A religion is what you make of it though, because terrorists will go blow up whatever it is because of their religion does not mean that is what the religion or the race teaches.
Religions teach you to be positive and although some do take some religions out of total whack it's not meant to be that way...there will always be peaceful and extremists.

However although Islams are sometimes not open to non believers... Catholics (not speaking about all Christians for I am not particularly knowledgeable in all areas) are taught to accept everyone for who they are.

Neither,it just depends on what time period you're looking at. They both have within them an element of elitism and power hunger that is bound to lead to eventual violence. Then when their people get sick of dying in droves they calm down for a century or two until some other madman comes along and uses their brainwashed follower mentality to cause further waves of violence using their beliefs in their ancient superstitions as a motivational factor. But at the moment it's obvious who's more peaceful for the time being, after all you can worship Islam in every Christian country in the world in general safety, but try to be a Christian in almost any Muslim land and your dead, that speaks for itself. I'm sure that things will soon change however if the Islamic world doesn't mend it's ways and reign in its fanatics it's only a matter of time before the battles going on in the world take an abrupt turn toward actual religious warfare and at that point Islam is doomed, after all no one does genocide quite like the Christians when they set their minds to it.

It depends what kind of "peace" you're talking about....inner peace or a lack of conflict between people. Isaiah 26:3 says, "You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in God." And in John 14:27, Jesus says, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
As peace being a lack of conflict... Paul says in 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." There are Scriptures that say Christians are to respect and honor the governing authority in power (Romans 13:6-7) and Jesus tells his disciples in Matthew 24:6, "You will hear of wars and rumors of wars,...Nations will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom." Jesus is just stating the fact that war will be a reality until the end of time. Most Christians would say there is a distinction between personal retribution, which is called SIN, and the right of government to keep its citizens safe and secure. God may use ruling authorities to accomplish His will on earth.
I'm still not sure what the Koran says about peace...the inner kind, OR the peace that is a lack of conflict between people. I would be interested in hearing what an educated Muslim would know.

f
rom the Christian Bible

Mattthew22:37. Jesus replied: "`Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'

39. And the second is like it: `Love your neighbor as yourself.'

39. And the second is like it: `Love your neighbor as yourself.'

matthew 5:43 "You have heard that it was said, `Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'
44 But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

then from the quoran

“When you meet the unbelievers, strike off their heads; then when you have made wide slaughter among them, carefully tie up the remaining captives.” (Quran47.4).

"And when the sacred months are passed, kill those who join other gods with God [i.e. moshrekin.] wherever ye shall find them; and seize them, besiege them, and lay wait for them with every kind of ambush: but if they shall convert, and observe prayer, and pay the obligatory alms, then let them go their way, for God is Gracious, Merciful."(Quran 9:5)

And as for Christians and Jews who rejected him he has this to say:

"Make war upon such of those to whom the Scriptures have been given and believe not in God, or the last day, and who forbid not that which God and His Apostle have forbidden..."( Quran

both religon's teach peace, as far as i know. so both are equally peacful, just it seems that Islamic people are in the news more because they are NEWS. Look at all the murdurs that happen every day in the US and around the world, no one notices but i bet most of them are Christan. So both religons have crazy people who want to kill people, but both religons have people that want to help the world.
It is not the religons, but the people.

Both religions are peaceful. Neither asks its followers to spread evil. But their are "forces" who strive to misinterpret the Quran and the Bible so they can create more and more violence in peoples minds.

Only a couple hundred years ago christians were burning people at the stake for thinking they were witches. In the past it was Islam that was more peaceful, now it is Christianity.

If you consider the life of Jesus or the life of Mohammed...I would say Christianity. Example is important. Our God is the same.

Many people do a lot of bad things in the name of religion. That is why I do not like even the name "religion".
