My aunt died when my cousins (all girls) were 8, 12, and 15. Their parents were divorced and they had to go and live with their Dad and his new wife who hit and verbally abused them. This happened in the 70's when DHS just did not really exist to help with things like that. I am happy to report though, that they are all healthy functioning adults with good careers. Their marriage (or lack thereof) history has not been the best though, probably because they did not have a healthy relationship to learn from. If this happened to you (the death of your Mother) then I am so sorry. But you will make it and be OK. Utilize school counselors, aunts, sisters, or anybody else that you can talk to. Take Care.

One of my best friends growing up lost his mother when he was 17. He HATES Christmas. I still call him every Christmas and even though he doesn't want anything to do with anyone that day, he always answers my call and we talk for about 30 seconds.
