There are many formulas, actually. Well, there is the reactions which takes place in the light. The first would be the photolysis of the water which is the breaking up of water molecule.

24H2O------> 24H+ + 24OH-
24H+ + 24e- ------>24H (atom hydrogen to be used in the dark reaction/ Calvin cycle)

24OH- -24e- ------> 24OH

24OH------> 12H2O +6O2

In the dark, Calvin cycle will take place in the stroma of the chloroplas.

6CO2 +24H------> 6(CH2O)(GLUCOSE)+6H2O

The whole equation is suposed to be:

6H2O+6CO2------>C6H12O6+6O2(reaction1)

reaction 1 is a redox reaction because both oxidation and deoxidation happens. 6H2O or the water molecule is oxidized because the oxidation number of CO2 which is(co-2)= -2 is changed to o2 which is 0 signifying that the carbon dioxide is deoxidized. I think both the CO2 and H2o is reduced.

Hope you understand this.

The formula for photosynthesis is as follows:

6CO2 + 6H2O --------> C6H12O6 + 6O2

where CO2 is carbon dioxide, H2O is water, C6H12O6 is glucose (a sugar), and O2 is oxygen.
