I need to find a way to get a pre-made family tree diagram. Something easy, where I just tell how many generations I want to go back, and enter their information, or have it already made to how many generations back i want to go, and just input their names. I NEED THIS TO BE DONE ON THE COMPUTER, NOT ON HAND WRITTEN PAPER!

Somthing where I don't have to actually make the diagram, only add the information.

Better yet, you can download Legacy software at Rootsweb for free. It's great. You can get a variety of views to your family history, including story form (called books in the program). If you start your tree in Rootsweb, you can then download the Gedcom file into the program. You can also start your tree in the Legacy program on your computer and download it to Rootsweb One World Tree. You can visit the forum boards (using a surname search) and meet others with the same name. Two years ago I did this and have found my half sister and 3 half brothers along with several other relatives. Good Luck!

I use Family Tree Maker (sold by Ancestry.com) and it works very well for me. You can buy a version of the software from Amazon.com for $27 plus shipping.

The benefits of using Ancestry.com are that their databases are incredibly well developed in case you want to perform any additional research. Using their system, I was able to trace my family's history back to the mid 1800's using some anecdotal information and a little bit of research.

In closing, let me say that Genealogical research can be quite addictive if you are just getting started with it. When I started, I found myself spending hours researching through pages and pages of online information. So, be warned.

If I thought you were serious, I would say that my German ancestors came to Lancaster, PA and went to Tennessee through the Cumberland Gap - three of them were signers of the Cumberland Compact, and one was a Revolutionary War soldier. The brother of one of my direct ancestors had a son who was appointed to the Supreme Court under Andrew Jackson, and he served until his death in 1865. There are many, many branches of this family throughout Tennessee, Virginia and Kentucky; they have spread as far as Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kansas. There are many prominent people who descended from this Tennessee family. But I don't think you're serious. I think you're looking for some crack like "Just use a ruler and draw a straight line." Har har.
