You dont. You learn to love your porcelain pale skin. Besides redheads look funny with a tan.

I would not recommend tanning for you, but if you need to get a base tan to avoid burning on an occasion such as a vacation, you can gradually achieve one by starting out with a small amount of time, such as three to four minutes, at a tanning salon. I wouldn't increase it past 10 or 15 minutes. After several weeks your skin will produce enough melanin to protect you against the sun if you are going to the beach or somewhere. However, unless that is the situation, I wouldn't tan. I am very fair skinned with blond hair and used to tan at the salon. But my mom recently got skin cancer, and now I am just sporting my white skin happily. Just think, when we're older we'll still have pretty skin.

Very gradually.

I've had the same problem.

Start off with a small amount of time; than keep increasing it. (Usually the people at the tanning salon will make a recommendation if you ask.)

Us redheads have to build up the tolerance to the exposure.

Also; make sure you DO use the dark tanning oil.

I don't understand this whole tan thing. you don't see a bunch of black people going to salon's to get whiter (yes, i know there are some freaky exceptions to this.). you should be proud of your skin color no matter what color you are. i hate it when i read questions like that. your coloring is what it is for a reason. nature does an excellent job of color cordinating hair/skin/eye color. so forget the tan and be happy with what god gave you.

You don't. But please don't tan... Redheads aren't suppose to be tan... You will look very fake if you do.

But if you must, then go to a tanning salon and get sprayed. It's the easiest way.
