do you have a back up plan? Do you have someone call you with a "fake" emergency call in case its not going well.

I have found that it does come in handy at times.

You can do it anytime. Whenever your date does something that makes you instantly grossed out, turned off or whatever, pretend that you got a text message about 5 minutes later. Your cell should always be on vibrate when you're on a date so no one needs to call you or anything.

Its a first date. Were you set up or did you ask this person out on your own volition?!? ON a first date, if you know that you aren't sure how you are going to get along, then you might want to consider going somewhere with some atmosphere. Some place that can keep the conversation going even when you can't. If you find that you are not keeping things moving, then you can let the atmosphere carry the date. An out door cafe can stimulate people watching, singing waiters help, a dinner theater, a movie, a show, the zoo, ice skating, roller skating, an art museum, all are places to go if you have poor to limited conversation skills.
Now if you have the gift of gab, you may want a less active location to allow your to shine.
If after all of this, things are not going well, you can be honest and just say, this is not going to well, do you mind if we end this early. IF you feel it, then you know that she feels it.
ON the other hand, if you ask her out and then regret it on the date, why did you ask her out in the 1st place?!? What kind of observations did you not make at the time that you made the date? Talking is an underrated science where people can actually learn about each other. That way you can catch the signs that you might not want to date. The fake emergency is kinda lame and you still risk getting asked out again. Just nip it in the bud as it is happening. If you are man enough to go out on a date, then you are man enough to get out of if.

I have had people on stand-by before in case things didn't go well on a date but even if I didn't, all I'd have to do is slip into the bathroom and make a call to someone to call me and help me out or send a text asking the same request. It is always safe to have a back-up, in case things are not going well and you need to just simply put, get the h*ll out of there. There are a lot of weirdos out there and you need to have a plan of action if you somehow end up on a date with one..lol..

no... a back up plan or a fake emergency call is extremely immature, inconsiderate, and not the kind of thing a gentleman or a real man would do.

LOL..You're right about that one. They do come in real handy. I've forgotten to use mine when I was single, and man o' man was I sorry I did forget them. Blind dates really need back up plans like that, too...

No, but I'm an honest person. If it isn't working out I just say that and beat it!
