This is a common misconception. People often want to believe that because these religions are monotheistic and claim Abraham as a patriarch, that they worship the same God. This myth is perpetuated by the Muslims, who want to draw people to them by claiming that Islam is the final of three ways God reached out to mankind. This belief is in error.

These remote similarities between Islam and Christianity are at best superficial. The differences outweigh the similarities.

An example:

In Islam, the Qur'an states rather clearly, "Proclaim: Allah is One. Allah is Eternal. He neither begets nor was begotten." (Surah 112:1-4)

In Christianity, we believe that Jesus was begotten. (John 1:14) Jesus clearly states that He is God: "Truly, truly I tell you, before there was an Abraham, I am!" (John 8:58) Naturally, there are many other examples I could use, but it wouldn't really help.

Now, we have a conundrum. Either Islam is right, and Jesus is not God, nor begotten; or Christianity is right, and Jesus is God, and is begotten. We can't have it both ways. Islam will never hold to a belief that Jesus is God. And Christians will not accept that Jesus is not God, and is not begotten. Therefore, they do not worship the same God.

The Hebrew name for the God of Israel is Yahweh Elohim (plural of El, Elyh, Allah). The yahweh Elohim is the God of Christianity.

The name for the Islamic God is Allah, and is antichrist, in that it denies Jesus Christ the Son of the Only Begotten Son, and that Jesus shed His Own Blood for the remission of our sins. The Koran has a different message that contradicts with the message of Gods redeeming Grace of the Holy Bible.

islam and christianity are most definatly NOT the same religions?
Christians worship Jesus the Christ who is the son of God(Yaweh)
the quoran clearly states that Allah has no sons!so how can we even worship the same God !also the quoran instructs muslims to

“When you meet the unbelievers, strike off their heads; then when you have made wide slaughter among them, carefully tie up the remaining captives.” (Quran47.4).

"And when the sacred months are passed, kill those who join other gods with God [i.e. moshrekin.] wherever ye shall find them; and seize them, besiege them, and lay wait for them with every kind of ambush: but if they shall convert, and observe prayer, and pay the obligatory alms, then let them go their way, for God is Gracious, Merciful."(Quran 9:5)

And as for Christians and Jews who rejected him he has this to say:

"Make war upon such of those to whom the Scriptures have been given and believe not in God, or the last day, and who forbid not that which God and His Apostle have forbidden..."( Quran. 9:29)

Once more the god of the muslims is notthe god of the Christians

Islam and Christianity are not the same religions. Christians worship Jesus as part of a Trinity. Muslims worship nothing and no one but God.

Christianity is all about Jesus loving us and dying so that we may live. Muslims do not think so.
Mohammad was never ever mentioned in the bible.

Christians have many versions of their Bible and hence when they say that Jesus is the son of God or Jesus is God then Islam and Christianity differs as Muslim's believe in one Allah without seeing him, he has no sons or daughters.

Christians will be shocked when they know that the Bible contains the evidence to disprove their beliefs. We will see that the Christianity of the church is different from the Christianity of Prophet Jesus peace be upon him (pbuh).

► The Old Testament never mentions the Trinity. God all through the Old Testament is one. How did He suddenly become three in one?! God who sent Moses is the same God who sent Jesus. God does not change in nature or in number.

► Jesus was BORN (Matt. 1:1). So he was not before his birth. How could the Trinity exist before Jesus' birth? Is it possible that Jesus was in his full human or divine form with God before his birth, then God said to him, “ O Jesus! I will make you an embryo and insert you in the womb of Mary, and then Mary will give birth to you !!

► Jesus was on the earth; God in heaven and the Holy Spirit like a dove over Jesus (Matt. 3:16). Each of the three was a separate and distinguished entity. How could they be ONE when they were THREE different in nature, place, and identity?! One god was on earth and the other god remained in heaven to keep a watchful eye on his "buddy" god who had decided to transform into a man? It makes no sense! Christians can only remain secure behind the curtains of " it is a mystery".

► Prophet Jesus (pbuh) said, “By myself I CAN DO NOTHING …” (John 5:30). So Jesus on earth was like a "weak and smaller god", dependent on the bigger and more powerful god known as the Father? That essentially means that they are unequal and hence cannot be one and the same? If they are one God combined, exactly the same, then surely one cannot be greater, more powerful or more knowledgeable than the other.

► According to the gospels, Jesus was dead for 1 day and 2 nights after crucifixion. What happened to the Trinity meanwhile?! One member, i.e., Jesus, was dead for 1 day and 2 nights. Did God become two-thirds of a God during the death of Jesus?! WAS GOD FUNCTIONING WITH TWO-THIRDS OF HIS ORIGINAL CAPACITY?!

► Jesus said, " NO-ONE KNOWS ABOUT THAT DAY OR HOUR, not even the angels in heaven, NOR THE SON, but only the Father. (Matthew 24:36)." If Jesus and the Holy Spirit, are INFERIOR to the Father in knowledge, then the Father only is God and neither Jesus nor the Holy Spirit are equal to the Father. If so, they are not qualified to unite with Him in the so-called Trinity. This means that Jesus is Jesus and the Holy Spirit is the Holy Spirit and God is God. They are three and each one is separate from the others. Not one in three. Nor three in one.

► Had Jesus been a member in the Trinity, he would have had abilities equal to God. But Jesus often thanked God, prayed to Him, and asked for His help. This proves that Jesus is a creature subordinate to God. Thus he cannot be God's partner or equal.

► Jesus refused to be called good and said, “NO-ONE IS GOOD—EXCEPT GOD ALONE.” (Luke 18:18,19) If “good" does not apply to Jesus, as Jesus himself asserts and it applies to God only, then Jesus cannot be equal to God and thus cannot be a member in the Trinity because Jesus lacks a basic quality of God, i.e., goodness. If he rejected to be called good, would he accept to be called God?!

► The Trinity, in fact, was established by councils which convened in the fourth century more than three hundred years after Jesus. Emperor Constantine wanted a religion that appealed to him personally. He promoted Jesus from the rank of a prophet to the rank of a god!! Thus Jesus became God by decree and the Holy Spirit became God by another decree! They made a compromise: "God is one" to please monotheists and "God is three" to please polytheists. The final output was "three in one" to please no one and displease no one. A religion by voting!! A vague god: ONE if you want him one. and THREE if you want him three, and ONE IN THREE if you wish or THREE IN ONE if you prefer it
