Be a good idea for me I do about 800 miles a year in my car and the rest in my van and the customer has to pay anyway , so if the gvt want to charge me £1 a mile I put on my percentage and the customer pays I think I would actually be better off

So the poor british driver is overtaxed?

Doesn't seem to stop him or her using the car though, does it?

Besides what's wrong with "pay as you go". We have this for utilities (electric, gas and water meters) some mobile phones and lots of other things.

If I eat twice as many potatoes as you shouldn't I pay more for them? So if you use the road more than I do then you should pay more than me.

This petition calls for the abolition of the concept and is wrongly targeted. In fact the proposed tax gives us a very easy way to control how much tax we pay. What's wrong with that?

It will never happen! But that said we do not pay nearly enough tax in UK which is why our services are so poor. Increase taxation and have more police, more prisons, better healthcare and so on.

We get what we pay for! Or rather not....
