i am curious to know how you can make your own beat with audio production software

Acid is more like remixing software, you get existing loops, beatmatch them (much like a DJ would) and mix them together. Software like Reason or Fruity Loops are more for making beats from scratch. They pretty much use a sequencer and / or drum machine to do that.

It's easy, you can record your audio, save it as a wav file, pick it in your acid and draw it on, there's your beat.
I have laid down entire tracks in acid over beats, even used it to make a song with all of my own audio.
