If you really care about your ex and your friend really cares about you she should understand. If she doesn't is she really that good of a friend?

Any chance the 3 of you could talk this over while sipping hot chocolate or something? I thought not, but in that case it is going to get a little messy.
First of all, do you like your ex? What are the reasons he is your ex? It is a very strange thing, but sometimes when someone else starts liking the goods you tossed, they start looking better and better. So decide if you really want your ex back and if he is worth it in the long run.
If you do still like him, you gotta talk to both of them. First the ex, to see what is going on in his head. Then, the friend. And... this is the hard part... you have to be honest. With both of them. Because otherwise it feels all coniving and it taints the relationship and/or the friendship in the long run. It's the whole bad Karma thing.
And, get out your crystal ball to look into the future. Are you likely to still be with this guy 5 years down the line or still have this friend? That may be the deciding factor.
Of course, you could always consider trading off(ha!)... or joining a convent... or fishing for bigger and better catches. Decisions, decisions....

Your friend? Ex boyfriends are off limits to friends, period. Ask her if your friendship is worth more than pursing your ex boyfriend.

dont date him again because your best friend will feel awful and you'd probably end up falling out! though if you still like your ex she should'nt really like him because that's unfair on you
