First you'd have to establish that global warming is really happening. Below is a link taking you to a NASA chart showing the temperature change from 1880 to 2005. Since 1880 the earth's temperature has risen less than 7/10 of 1 degree C. See for yourself here: http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/2005/2005cal_fig1.gif
There are numerous charts all over the internet showing the same. The fact that people choose to ignore the facts of these charts shows that they have an agenda to convince the masses of something that really is not happening.
In fact here's a link to a secular scientific article that shows the earth was actually warmer in the past than it is today.
http://www.msu.edu/course/isp/203/raeburn_old/fulltext/class9.pdf
And here's an article from a Harvard University study that says: "Such claims have now been sharply contradicted by the most comprehensive study yet of global temperature over the past 1,000 years. A review of more than 240 scientific studies has shown that today's temperatures are neither the warmest over the past millennium, nor are they producing the most extreme weather - in stark contrast to the claims of the environmentalists.
The review, carried out by a team from Harvard University, examined the findings of studies of so-called "temperature proxies" such as tree rings, ice cores and historical accounts which allow scientists to estimate temperatures prevailing at sites around the world.
The findings prove that the world experienced a Medieval Warm Period between the ninth and 14th centuries with global temperatures significantly higher even than today."

I hope that helps...

Capnemo is an idiot, in every sense of the word.
First, his reference to NASA's picture is proof of global warming (notice the 200-year trend upwards?). The fact is, a single degree change in the average earth temperature is the difference between the ice age and now.
Second, his reference to a "secular scientific article that shows the earth was actually warmer" is not only irrelevant, but he obviously didn't read the article. The article was written in 1999, whereas the past 6 years have been the warmest on record. Further, the article states:
"Human-induced global warming is the raising of surface temperatures due to increased atmospheric concentrations of CO2 and other greenhouse gases."
and
"It is reasonable to conclude that global warming is a real threat,..."
??? How does this article go against global warming?
Third, his reference to the Harvard study is completely ignorant of the followup. 5 editors resigned in protest from the journal it was published in, including the managing editor. Harvard professors disagree with the findings, and the author of the study, Willie Soon, is a paid consultant for the George C. Marshall Institute, a Washington non-profit organization that opposes limits on carbon dioxide emissions.
See reference here: http://www.thecrimson.com/article.aspx?ref=348723
Stop spreading lies, capnemo. The Earth is warming, mankind is responsible, and we need to do something about it.

Nice try but humans aren't causing any significant change no matter what is done.
If you check historical data (100s of years not just the last few decades), you will see that the "Global Warming" is the NORMAL pattern for the planet. It's the planet's way of 'exercising' each environment to force the balance of each ecosystem.
There's been studies on polar shifts...100s of years ago. The poles didn't just drift to a new spot. They have to melt from one place and then freeze and rebuild in the new spot.
Do your homework before believing all the chicken littles out there.

Me, I DEFINITELY think that our lifestyle is indeed affecting the environment. I think that global warming is a terrible issue plaguing our planet. Here are some means which I try to practice to reduce global warming. I encourage my parents to let me walk to school instead of they driving me. I am person that studies Environmental Science therefore I try my best to implore to people means of keeping a healthy environment. All I do is try best to ensure we have a clean environment by telling them about the effects of global warming. Right now its critical that we educate others about global warming. In addition, the pizza place where I work part time uses there waste carbon dioxide emitted to heat there hot water needed for various reasons. I was the one who encouraged this after seeing this on television. People should try to encourage this practice as the carbon dioxide emitted in atmosphere cause global warming. In addition, we use motorcycles powered by electricity when delivering pizza. All we can do is educate people on the topic as much possible. These include ways such as through the media ( radio, t.v. , newspaper), going into our schools and workplaces, using billboards, flyers, advertising on food articles such as boxes etc. Just as much as possible to tell about this problem and in doing so we evaluate the effects of gobal warming and ultimately means of mitigating the issue

I drive a gas guzzling, out of tune v-10 Excursion. It belches enough hydro-carbons at start up to heat up the atmosphere a whole tenth of a degree.
