We live in a small community and I don’t like it at all. We have neighbors who really don’t get it. They come to our home all the time asking to borrow things. How does one borrow oil, sugar, milk etc? The cold part is the mom always sends the children to do her dirty work. Not saying I have the best things but each and every time she enters our home she always have to ask rude questions “where this come from , how much that cost”? I notice when I make changes around my yard or home she does the same. So I try to keep my door closed and stop her at the door.
The children oh boy….its like a bad song from a choir. As soon as we hit the block they don’t allow us to get in the driveway and they start the run down of all our names times 7 please Stop. If I’m bringing in a baby and grocery who wants to be bothered.
When it comes to information we always know theirs due to the fact they tell us. No one ask for all this. What should I do? I tried ignoring but that don’t work. They are always in the window. Is this wrong?

welcome to living in a small community. i grew up in one and still live in one. it really does suck the big one b/c everyone thinks they need to know your business. very, very nosy people. there have been time that i got so fed up i have told some people off. i have felt bad afterwards but it shut them up and stop them from coming over or calling all the time. Good Luck!!!

Can you get a privacy fence? Stop letting them borrow. The best answer is, "Sorry but I just don't have any." And it's true, you don't have any to give away to every Tom, Dick & Harry. I wouldn't care if I just drove up with $5,000 worth of groceries and some spilled in the driveway on my way to the house, it's mine and I don't have to share. They own a home as you do, so they can affored to buy oil, sugar & milk. I bet after they bake the cake or cookies, they don't even bring any over to you. When you drive up and they start the roll call, pretend to be on your cell phone and act like you don't hear them. Walk into the house, shut and lock the door and don't answer the doorbell. They will get an attitude (who cares!) but will get the message after a while and leave you the heck alone. The nerve of them. The mom has no control over her Bebe's kids. She has no home training herself, asking about the cost of your things. Keep stopping her at the door. She's a nuisance. If she stops you in the front yard, you have to say, "Oh my goodness, I left the iron on. Gotta run. Bye!" And run in the house.

At some point you invited these people in so they think you are their friend. When they ask to borrow something, tell them you don't have any left. Or if they have borrowed that same item before and not returned it, tell them you have not bought any and were counting on them to give you back that coup of sugar they borrowed last week because now you need it.

If the neighbour copies things you do, take it as a compliment, if they didn't like it or were not impressed, they wouldn't want their things to look the same.

I they are always telling you stuff, you don't have to stand and listen, you can say, I have such and such to get done so must get busy, but it was nice to see you, good bye and go back in or back home. Don't let them keep talking, turn and leave the INSTANT you give your excuse and done turn around to say one more thing...
