If all this afterlife business is bogus, it will be a meaningless point. There will be no one and/or nothing to care or even be aware of it.
The question as to whether there is any part of a person that survives and continues after the death of the brain/body is one that has generated a lot of interest in we humans. Being able to think in conceptual ways, we are burdened with this problem. Animals don't seem to be much concerned with what happens when life if over. If there is some sort of survival in some alternate existence, one hopes it is not too damned unpleasant or unfair. People have proposed some really nasty ideas and I pray they are wrong. .
" Troubles are many. They're deep as a well.
Can't say if there's a heaven, but I pray there ain't no hell.
But I'll never know by living, only my dyin' will tell."

The problem is not what would you do if nothing happens after death; it is if you find yourself conscious and still exist after death, then what would you do? This is the greatest agony that the nonbeliever will experience when they die and find that they still exist, and still conscious of the world after their physical body has died and their soul or spirit still exist. What would the non believer do when he sees himself put into the coffin and is aware of all his friends and acquaintances paying him their final tribute, and then later on he sees his body being barred under the earth. He then looks around and find himself with a different world; he slowly begins to awaken in the new spiritual world and after all his friend leave the grave yard, he begins to see those who are like him dead but are not aware what is happening. The ghost who were invisible to him in his physical body are now visible, perhaps evil spirits now begin to slowly become real and communicable. I can use my imagination and describe to you the agony of those who never accepted God and never believed in the eternity of the spirit every man has inside himself. If nothing happens after death, there is nothing to worry about; your body has died and your life has ended and there is no conscious left in you to make you worry.
Now, if you had been a believer of God, then the story will not be the same for those who die. They will have an Angel who will be awaiting their arrival and transport them to where they belong in accordance with every body's faith and deeds. Those who die believing in Jesus Christ, will be immediately ascended to Paradise awaiting the day of Judgment and the day they will be embodied with a glorified body; a body like that of the body of Jesus that lives for ever.

What do you mean nothing happens? If we don't exist I won't be thinking anything, obviously. If I do, and there is a God, and my religion wasn't the correct one, then I be God will say that he was proud of my for trying to find the right one, that I made the effort/did my share, and that I will be blessed for my good deeds (and punished for my bad).

If nothing happens, nothing is lost. But consider the alternative.
If you die and something happens, what will you do ?

Scripture is quite clear, that the dead know nothing, but afterward comes the judgment, and then either eternal life, or complete annihilation. There are many "Gods" and "Lords". Most folk unfortunately are worshipping the wrong one (or ones) The one who created the Heavens and the earth is the real one, His name is YHVH!

You are more right than you know, but not as you think.
Nothing will happen. It will be like taking off your clothes at the end of the day...nothing really happens to you.
But what will you do when this happens?

I'll be very disillusioned and reflect on how wrong I was about everything and how right you were. I'd try hard to find out where exactly I had deluded myself and — oh, wait...
I guess I'd do nothing.
