Yes, Witchcraft exists, but it was a PRACTICE not a RELIGION. Those who call themselves Wicca (in its various forms) have "turned" it into a religion instead of leaving it in its authentic form. The types we mainly see in mainstream these days is the Celtic/Germanic forms of witchcraft. I find it interesting that those who claim they practice a much older religion than Christianity or Judaism by being Wicca have not done their homework. Remember, its a practice not a religion.
Witches, soothsayers, herbalists, seidhrs (Spacraft), Galdrs, or whatever, were PART of a tribal system. They were not a solo religion apart from the rest of those who worshipped gods and goddesses. Most of what is practiced today in mainstream Wicca came from the loins of Gerald Gardner (1884 -1964). It has simply evolved into different areas, meaning if it was "authentic" like they claim it to be then it would look more like what the Asatru/Theodish do.
Though I am not Heathen, but rather Christian, I do respect those who reconstruct the old ways and keep it authentic instead of trying to "claim" its authenticity as a argument like many Wicca do. Wicca is mainly a 20th century manifestation of ancient nature worship systems based out of northern Europe that existed thousands of years ago. Intersting to note also that "the book of the law" that many professing Wiccans quote or refer to is a creation of Aleister Crowley's based on EGYPTIAN spirituality NOT Germanic or Celtic. And he was an occultist, a practioner of the dark arts.
Anyway, yes, witchcraft in its many forms exists today, but is it the authentic "religion" that many claim it to be? Based on Wiccan origins I would have to say NO.

Yes it does, but not the fantasies portrayed in movies and television. I am Pecti-Witan (aka Hedge Witch) a practitioner of "the Old Religion". Nothing flashy about it. we are fairly simple people with "abilities" that everyone has, ours are just honed and utilized. Lots of research and practice. There is a lot to learn when you are dealing with herbal, mineral and candle magick.
BTW I do read tarot cards, rune stones and utilize a number of other "fortune telling" items but would NEVER charge anyone for anything I do! Besides, I do not do "readings" for others on demand. That sounds more like a carnival ruse!

Absolutely, but be careful. I've had a few spells work TOO well and counterspells to negate them can be a little trickier.

Yes, there are a lot of people who practise it.
However, just because people do it doesn't necessarily mean that it works. That's a whole other question.
