Wet food is better for the cat anyway. Cats are descended from desert animals so they are used to getting thier water intake from thier food, they cannot drink enough water to compensate either.
Also, when you do the wet food it is much easier to control how much they are eating. Which is important to thier long term health. "Free feeding" can cause weight problems.

why do you feel you have to force the issue? Can't you continue with mixing it with canned foods? Animals are like humans, they have preferences. Sure, if that's all you offer her, she'll eat it eventually because she's hungry, but again, why force it. It isn't necessarily healthier than canned foods. I had two cats who lived to be 15 and 18 yrs old and one had bladder stones- and the vet recommended soft food only to avoid future stones, so in my mind there must have been a link.

My dog is the same way. He's very picky and will only eat food if it is soft. However, wet food can be expensive, so we mix his dry food with alittle water, than place it in the blender for about 30 seconds. It actually works! He eats it much better than when it's dry. For alittle pazazz, I sometimes add gravy or blended carrots.

I feed my cat wet canned food in the morning and dry cat food at night. Dry cat food exposure lasts longer, as far as freshness is concerned, than canned after opening. Canned food is healthier than dry. I want to make sure my cat is happy and fed. So, I say both are good.

Continue to mix it with the soft, or wet, food. Animals are like people in thier preferances of food. It's just a picky cat. It isn't uncommon. I actually had a cat that wouldn't eat the cat food;;instead, she ate the dog food.

Why do you want her on dry food anyway? Think about how animals eat in the wild. Cats particularly derive moisture from their prey if there are no sources of water around. Find a good, natural moist food (most of the store bought brands are poor, do research and read labels).
Dry food is OK for a small snack throughout the day in my opinion. We use a good quality moist food with a small bit of dry kibble for a snack. See my profile for links to natural pet food.
Either way, make sure to also provide plenty of fresh water for your cat.

Your cat will eat when it gets hungry and the only thing available is the dry food. Put the dry food out and just leave it. Don't worry. It will eat.

Actually, mixing the dry with wet food is good becuase the cat will get needed water from wet food. Cats are notorious for not drnking enough water which causes urinary tract and kidney problems later on in their lives. I feed my cats wet foo primarily and throw in dry kibble for their teeth.

If you run the hard food under a little bit of hot water, it brings out the smell and makes the food a little softer. They will think they are getting soft food, when its not. You just need a little hot water from the sink.
