Apparantly, some guy wrote a book about atheism, and made a dvd that you can get free if you post a video of you "denying the holy spirit" on YouTube. From what they said, in the bible in Mark somewhere, it states that the only unforgiveable sin is to deny the holy spirit. My questions are:
1. Is it true that once you say that, you can never be forgiven, even if you change your mind later?
2. Would you do it? I'm not particularly religious, but I'm not sure I could do it, as I'd like to have all my bases covered.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I didn't say I was an athiest, I just said that I wasn't particularly religious.

I think the point of making the videos is to prove that there is nothing to fear by saying it because they believe that God doesn't exist. I don't judge, I'm just wondering what people think about it.

I'm aware of a passage concerning sinning against the holy spirit but I don't the passage. I would have to find it and confer with constituents first.

denying the Holy Spirit, means that you are denying the truth about Christ- because the Holy Spirit is the only one that can lead you to Jesus and His saving grace on the Cross. This is a question back to you, and you may answer it if you so choose. You say you are not particularly religious, but you are not sure you would do it because you want all your bases covered. What are you worried about? If you are really concerned then I think you are seeking the truth. I do believe that Christ died for my sins, and that by accepting Christ I can have forgiveness, eternal life with Him, and a personal relationship now. If you are concerned about denying the Holy Spirit, that means that you are wondering if Christ could be the truth. I am not saying this to offend you or anyone reading this post, I am saying it because I know that the Holy Spirit is seeking people- and I am one that was found.

Sounds a bit dumb.

No atheist has to make any vow. We're not that kind of club. If the holy spirit doesnt exist who gives a damn what you say about it?

If you fear for your soul and cant see the holes in your whole argument then obviously atheism is not for you.

I could never do it myself. It would be like selling your soul to the devil

Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit

22 And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “by the prince of demons he casts out the demons.” 23 And he called them to him and said to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26 And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end. 27 But no one can enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. Then indeed he may plunder his house.

28 “Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the children of man, and whatever blasphemies they utter, 29 but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”— 30 for they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”
