Your 5 year old is way too young to be concerned with shaving. She should still be playing with dolls.

Furthermore, you should be more concerned about your daughter learning and being smart and having a productive happy future... not whether she looks like Britney Spears or not. Get your priorities for your daughter straight.

OK calm down people -- she is only 5. It may not be as bad as it sounds.

Now, a 5-year old doesn't have anything to shave for one thing, and for another, I don't think I would trust her with a razor. Very sharp and razor cuts can be very painful.

That being said, she might just be doing it to be like you or someone else she looks up to, much like a little boy might want to mow the yard or fix a car as his dad or big brother does. It sounds to me like adult role-playing, which isn't too uncommon for a 5 year old. Have you considered giving her a fake razor, or one with no blade and let her "pretend" to shave with you? Try it and see how it works. If that's all it is she will eventually just grow out of it and move on to something else.

Good luck.

What? She is 5 years old! If you want her to ACT like Britney Spears try forcing her to grow up before she is ready.

No. she is five years old and should not have a reason to shave. She needs to be focusing on having a normal childhood. If you let her do this she will only grow up to to fast and it will be worse on her in the long run. Playing around with make-up is one thing but to actually let her shave.

I dont think that you should let your 5 year old shave. Once you start it, there is no going back. Besides, 5 is a little young to begin that habit. She is just a little girl. Shaving is something that you should at least wait until she hits puberty to start. Let her be a little girl.

No. Just make her think she is shaving! put shaving cream on her and turn the razor around the wrong way to were it will make her think that she is shaving because the shaving cream will be coming off anyways.... lol i have a 2 year old niece...everytime she takes a bath she wants to shave and she falls for it everytime.

No, you shouldn't. Actually, I think instead of wondering if you should let her, you should be figuring out how to tell her how wanting to shave so young is silly and even dumb, and why being like BS or whatever media role model is not important.

Five year-olds have beautiful, fine body hair on their arms and legs. When your kid hits puberty and the hair gets dark and curly, that's when you might think about allowing her to shave. Currently she has neither the need nor the motor dexterity to shave.
