John says,

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.

vs.14 and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us....

We know that Jesus is the Word and since Jesus was God then God has already come and will come again..

HOW AWESOME is it to know that God has dwelt among us in the flesh?

Actually, you have faith that Jesus is the Word based on what your Holy book says, Just as the Muslims have faith, Just as the Jews have faith. As a matter of fact most spiritual paths are based on faith and all religions have their own story of "The Beginning". The fact that you have a book does not make you more right than anyone else, it just means you have a book.

I have faith that I have had contact with the Divine based on personal experience. I need not justify it with a book for it to be alright with me.

John says huh? And he is......? Good referencing though well done...!

I didn't mean to denigrate your Faith...forgive me my lapse into ignorance I'm tired...If you are finding peace and happiness within your Faith then I encourage you to continue, you obviously find great joy and immense pleasure from it and I'm therefore glad for you...

Peace my friend from a Buddhist..in the season of joy...

ok for the people who answered the question referencing christian mass murder need to go s/*t on themselves. get a life. humans have been murdering each other since forever. stop using murder and war as a reason to further loathe christians. it's getting tired. sad to say that most people who answered seems to lack a brain. i thought you had to be 13 and over to use Answers anyway. they take some bad cherries and immediately generalize an entire religion. maybe this is the same with racism. and no answers here have been given, instead there are only insults and notifcation of your misspellings. why is this always current with atheist questions? geesh.

to answer the question, i agree with you. God is alive and good. I live everyday because of Him. AMEN!

Is there a point to this thread? I'm glad you have chosen a religion that suits you. Other's feel the same. I personally feel your religion is a wicked structure, the 20-30 million directly killed because of it would say the same. I have morals that prevent me from choosing an organized religion and following the kinds of God(s) most of these represent, but if you find happiness in believing in one of them that's great.

Congratulations, it works for you. Can you learn how to respect other people now?

Like most atheists, I've read the text several times. I grew up in the church. Even used to know enough Greek to read John in the original. Can you imagine that?

One day I am going to write a really good book. People will read it and believe everything I say. It will just really be a fictional story but people will worship me and believe it. Won't that be awesome? Why don't you leave us atheists alone and stop preaching to us. We will believe what we want to and you're not going to change our minds.

God is the end result of a failed search for truth by a very shallow mind. Do you get more than your ankles wet when you walk around inside yours? There are no such things as gods. By the way, it is spelled A-T-H-E-I-S-T.
