yes they are....best way to keep this from happening with your taters is to keep them in a cool, dry place...refrigerator crisper (drawers in refer) works.

Of course they are, just cut the buds off. You may have to cut a little chunk out where the buds were growing, but it's not like it's going to make you sick or anything. They taste a little funny, I imagine. The buds, that is.

Is it fungus or have they sprouted? If they look like little root buds, then the eyes have sprouted. They should be safe, just cut them off and fix your potatoes. But since I don't know exactly what they look like, I'm not positive. That's what it sounds like, though.

yes it is. the potatoes should not be eaten if they have green on them. just rip the roots off and cook them normally.

yesss just cut them out and throw them to the yard...they will grow in spring..ppl throw theyre chives off their pizzas and now i got wild chives growing here cooooool
