I am looking for a new booster for my daughter. She weighs 24 lbs so she can be in the booster seat now. She is taller for her age around 34inches. I am looking for one that we will beable to use for quite a while and will grow with her. The last one I had was kind of difficult to use and it wasnt a tall back one so her head was coming close to the top of it. Any advice or site would be helpful.

I found a few booster seats that said 22-80lbs but most are just a convertiable car seat. So yes she is too small for a booster seat. I would never just go out and buy one with out doing tons more research. Thank you for letting me know.

You have to be careful what you get because most booster seats start at 30 lbs. My daughter has a Graco Turbobooster. It has has good reviews. Since your daughter isn't at that weight yet, I suggest you get an Eddie Bauer. It has a five point harness and goes up to 100 lbs. My daughter had one of those but we were in an accident and the experts say if a carseat has been in an accident you should get a new one so I got the Graco (I didn't want to pay another $200 for the Eddie Bauer) but they have gone down in price since then. They are about $125, whereas the Graco are $60, but it's really worth the money. It's a great carseat. Here's a site that should help you.

All states have different laws, but I don't think any allow a child that small to be in a booster seat. There are different categories of car seats - the infant carrier, an infant seat (usually 20-40lbs), toddler/booster seats. My son, now 5, is in a booster seat (state law in MA says 40lbs+ for a booster, until a certain height - not sure what it is yet). My 20 month old is in a regular car seat.

Check with your local police department or your state government's webpage to find out what your local laws are. The most important thing is to keep your child safe.

Actually, the new recommendations are that kids should be rear facing for as long as they can possibly fit that way (even past the minimum of BOTH one year and 20 pounds). Don't even consider facing your 5-month-old forward. A convertable seat is a good idea; buy one and try putting it rear-facing in your jeep and return it and try another if it doesn't fit for some reason. If you're not sure about how much it needs to be reclined because your son is still so young (generally the convertables aren't reclined, but then my kids were much older by the time they reached that weight), read the specs for the seat online before you buy and make sure it will fit.

You should try a Gecko car seat, it grows with your child. It's goes up to 80 lbs and it's a car seat and a booster seat. When your child is at the right age and height you can use the cars seat belt to support her in her car seat or boaster seat. There are tons out there to choose from, make sure you find a person who is very experienced in sell them to help you find the right one for your daughters safety.

A child should stay in a 5 point car seat till 80 pounds!

I am leaving a link to youtube to see a video over the importance of a 5 point harness. At least watch the video before you make your choice. Talk to your local EMS, and Doctore. They may tell you different.

HTat child needs to still be in a car seat till they are at least 5. You can get a convertible seat that switches to a booster seat after.

yes, the Graco booster seat is a good one. That was probably the age i put my little boy in one and in March he will be four and we still use it (and he is about four feet tall and 62lbs.!!!) you can't go wrong with this seat, target or wal-mart usually sells them very inexpensive and they are super easy.

You could get her a tall back one and then attach a cushion or something soft to the top of it for her head to rest on. Good Luck.
