Wow! When it comes to religion, even a small business is highly lucrative. A church of 400 members is considered a small church. Do the math on tithing and you will see an average income for the preacher is $250,000 per year. With an automatic cost of living index built in. How? As people's income increases, the Preacher's income increases. They pay 10% of their gross income, the preacher gets half of that; and the rest goes for upkeep of the church.

Now for the big bopper of big business: The pope gets 100% of all tithing and offerings. Then for the individual churches to survive they have to run bingo parlors, and hand out special envelopes for charity, and have carnivals to pay the priests salary. --- And remember, the Pope's take is tax free income.

Religion is the ultimate con, it is government protected, tax free and the product they sell doesn't have to be delivered until you reach a place that doesn't exist. No wonder so many people jump on this manured money wagon.
