They just misrepresent evolutionary theory in this way to mock it, and to stir up unthinking knee-jerk reactions to the idea that humans might have come from monkeys. (I'm sure that they are also appalled by anyone who points out the behavior similarities between apes and humans).
They are not above telling untruths about what evolutionary theory actually IS in order to elicit the response they want from people who will take their (untrue) word on what it means.
Sad, really. If religious people would just realize that their creation stories are just that - STORIES - and go on about the business of the *actual value* of religion, this wouldn't happen.
There is no good reason for religious texts to be taken as scientifically factual, and in fact any attempt to do so only results in bad science and bad religion.

Then if we share a common ancestor then we're did our ancestors evolved from ? Hmmmmm? How dose that make any sense? And why so logic and not reasonable I'm sure are ancestors evolved from monkey like mamals didn't you ever watch the evolution of man from natgeo. we were basically monkeys rominng the ground then became bipedal ate meat became intelligent used tools so your telling me that under the right circumstances I can't cause another species to evolve to become bipedal grow more intelligent or even genetically alter thier race with human DNA to become like us. that's rediculus and close minded I believe we are human to do just that. but then again the human race is selfish and only idol a stupid God or w/e but long ago man came up with this stupid mentality that nature is agains us but like humans always.what we think is against us is actually what were against humans are the real God's!!!!!! If God gave us intelligence why not animals maybe the world would be better off

According to evolution science, humans share a common ancestor with modern African apes, like gorillas and chimpanzees. Scientists believe this common ancestor existed 5 to 8 million years ago. Shortly thereafter, the species diverged into 2 separate lineages. One of these lineages ultimately evolved into gorillas and chimps, and the other evolved into early human ancestors called hominids. In a round-about way, science is saying that we originated from apes without actually coming right out and saying it.Why? Because they have similar DNA? So what. That proves absolutely nothing.
Of course, I do not believe we came from a common ancestor derived from gorillas, but I do believe we came from a common HUMAN ancestor. But, if science is correct in its assumptions, how and why did the species we supposedly came from divide into 2 separate lineages? Why not remain fully gorilla? And since natural selection is an important aspect of evolution, why didn't apes, gorillas, and monkeys just die out as a species since humans evolved from that common ancestor and are clearly the dominant species?
I do not believe we came from monkeys. That is totally absurd. But my main question is what WAS our common ancestor then? If not a type of monkey, what?

Wow that was very very redundent the entire time through. Ok I think I understand this question. I am a very big Christian and in all honesty, they were trying to make the Atheist sound even more rediculous. Then again fundementalists didn't come up with the chart with the ape turning into a human, so I don't know. Hope me answering this question helps you sleep better at night.

simple enough, if one rejects the entire idea of evolution which states we all have a common ancestor, and monkeys, apes etc... are our closest living relation outside the human gene pool, then it makes sense we "evolved" from monkey, or ape etc... which would have been a prior stage of the evolutionary ladder.
i reject the "theory" of evolution because it has too many holes that have to explained without proof. for example, the "missing link". you can use all the speaking points and flowery talk... but until the actual "bridge" between man and lower life forms is found, well your just talking science fiction instead of science fact. you don't believe in God because there is no science fact to support his existence. you do believe in evolution void of the same fact you demand Christians present for their faith... kinda silly if yo ask me, but everybody has to believe in something, you just believe your an animal with a bigger brain pan than monkeys.

25 years ago when I was doing geology that's what the teacher was drawing on the board. We even got given the ape to man gradual mutation charts. It was obvious the teacher didn't believe it and was going through the motions but that was what happened. Now that theory has been revised but it's origins were certainly not Christian. I am aware Evolutionalists are not saying that now but it is not true to say they never said it.

I am a fundamentalist Christian. I believe there are some absolutes that if you deny them, then you deny the faith and cannot call yourself Christian.
I fight the Evolution Theory of Darwin everyday I live. This evil theory is by far the downfall of American society. It was enhanced with lies, fraud and made up untruth. Evolution has been pushed by Secular Humanism and not fundamentalist Christians.
Every word in your question and comment is deceiving.

Where is the missing link? Isn't there a difference between monkeys and apes? Are you trying to make Christians look bad or evolutionists? You should go protest a zoo so all of your relatives can be set free.
May God Bless you.

Oh, you mean the "missing link?" That is a myth. It's amazing that mainstream scientists refute the existence of Big Foot, Loch Ness Monster and Chupacabra yet insist on the existance of the Missing Link.
