You will need lots of patients. Also, lots of snacks, drinks and like I said patients.
You can expect lots of giggling, screaming, energy. And NO SLEEP. HAVE FUN

ACTIVITIES
okay, well, when i was 7 i asked to have a sleepover as well...if its a birthday party i suggest you buy a birthday cake mix and back the cake but lay out all the icing on the table and that could be one of the activities. Another idea would be to have one room for sleeping and other rooms for games (kariokie, Dance Dance Revolution, etc) and/or movies. I've found that this is quite effective so there isnt fights over the noise of the TV or game because the girls are distracting other's from their beautify sleep
another very popular activity at my children's sleepovers is soap making, which you can find direction and supplies at any HOOBIE store near you.
FOOD
food food food, the fact is that you dont want your child and her friends eating pure junk, but the fun of the party is to mix it up. I've done the Cake activity with my 14 year old daughter (an her 9 friends) and there wasnt any cake left over!!!
NOISE!
i suggest you take a nap the day of the party, there isnt any good solution for the noise, you dont want you daughter to be sushed. its kind of emabrassing.
Bed-timehour
try and get them to be falling asleep by 12 or 1, but i think they will already be playing truth-or-dare by then
best of luck!!!

Firstly expect a lot of giggling and generally sillyness but if you are firm - but still fun - with your daughter and her friends then you should find that the evening goes a lot better than you expected! To start with, don't let them eat sugar filled food after 6 instead present them with healthy alternatives.....let them play a team game like a treasure hunt or twister....and to stop any arguing in the bedroom, make sure that they are all settled down before you turn off the light and maybe put on a film for them to watch as they fall asleep! No matter what you choose to do, don't expect a quiet evening! Lol! Good luck! -x-

well, be prepared for a lot of squealing/laughter. I would make sure that all of the girls are able to be friendly to each other. You don't want a lot of drama and hurt feelings.
Appropriate movies are a good time-filler. Maybe some kind of jewerly making craft. Of course, pizza and snacks are a no-brainer. You need to let your daughter and her friends know what you expect as far as bedtime. For me, I don't want to hear kids playing all night long. I "try" to enforce a reasonable bedtime-by 12 p.m.
The best way to help them get quiet is to just stay in the same room (until they fall asleep) to discourage "whispering", etc.
It will be a great memory for your daughter! have fun!

I have a 7 year old and this plan works every time!!! Limit it to her closest 5 gal-pals. (or less) Start the sleep over about 2 in the afternoon. You will get "are you sure that early?" Let them have cookies and the cake early. Have them plenty of activities!!! Make sure they all get a winners prize.
Pin the tail on the donkey, simple schavenger hunt groups, (you can have 2 or more groups) guess the beans in a babyfood jar(this one you can sneak the answer to one if they have not won anything yet. And you can use jelly beans). There are loads of games to play...but have them active as they can be to burn off the sugars from the cake. About 7 have them all go potty and get piled in the livingroom floor (or the bedroom) and put in an older movie that is a cartoon that you watched. When they are all sweaty from playing...pottied...they are ready to crash out. Sugar drop off will help to have them crash.
Important you want to call the parents to make sure they have the invitation, and to be able to ask if any of them have bed wetting issues. When you ask over the phone the child will not be imbarrassed at the party to be singled out. Maybe wake them up about 2-2 & 1/2 hours after they go to sleep to go potty. (before you go to sleep) You will need to have the path to the potty lit in the middle of the night. Also have plenty of light so they don't step on anyone else on their trip to the potty.
Let me know how the party goes....merjb

My daughter is turning 8 this March so I've been there. Take them to a skating rink, or a movie and ice cream to get them out of the house a bit (we went to Build-a-bear). Once home, yes, lots of noise, giggles, dancing and singing. I had a station where they could fix eachothers hair and do eachother nails...they had lots of fun with that and I made Nacho supremes so they could make their own with whatever they liked on it. When you're ready for them to settle down, a movie (make sure it's a good one)and popcorn on a huge blanket on the floor. Have fun, if not, you'll stress! Good luck and hope your daughter has a Happy Birthday.

Here at my house where I often have up to 4 7/8 year olds at once the rule is they have to figure out their own problems (as long as it doesn't include anything physical), otherwise I would be fixing all their problems. When the come to me I simply ask... how will YOU fix the problem?
I would pick a game or two for the girls (bingo should be big enough), a craft activity, a movie or two.
For food I would do pizza dinner (frozen is cheaper), chips, and popcorn. I would offer caffeine free soda (if they drink it), juice, and water.

How about a dress-up party. Buy a bunch of fancy dresses from Goodwill and have all sorts of boxes full of jewelry and hats and shoes and accessories. Then take pictures. If you have a digital camera then you can upload right away. If not, take them to 1 hour photo while you go out for pizza. Expect someone to get homesick at night. Have them watch a movie in their sleeping bags and most will fall asleep. You might want to lay with them towards the time you want them to go to bed - this will quiet them down a bit and give comfort to anyone who is homesick.

For your first time, just have her invite two or three. I see you already are totally aware of girls' cattiness; it's so unfortunate they do this.
Be prepared for the noise level; it will be bizarrely loud, but if you go into it with a good attitude, you'll do fine. Keep it simple, that's the best thing. Rent a few movies, have pizza, popcorn, chips, pop - junk won't hep them up, but keep them quiet while they snack. They'll probably want to play music. Bedtime? Good luck with that one... try settle them into their jammies by 9, but they'll be up til 2 a.m. talking and giggling. Cereal and muffins and fruit for brekkie in the morning, nothing for you to fuss over. Be oh, so grateful when their parents come to get them at 11 a.m.!
Good luck. Wear earplugs.

Hmmm i have some ideals well at that age they like to dress up with moms clothes and makeup etc. food wise i would try to stick with healthy snacks so that they are not filled with sugar so they can fall asleep faster. but also activity wise have them host a movie night too if you have time, or just ask the girls to make a list of what they might want to do. And set some rules too so that it makes it easier for you. Bed time i say by 12am or its what you feel good with. i hope that works
