I absolutely loathe Pondlife's answer. Who does the English git thinks he is eh? Bastard! Come and get some you wanker. ******* plonker you are, ain't ya?
Anyway, to answer the question.. If god did not exist, neither would the English, and seen as an English **** on Room 101 binned the Dutch fairly recently, neither would I. If god would not exist therefore, I would not exist. Do you get that? I am sure you do, but ******* PONDLIFE would be too bloody thick!! Slagging off the Scots will get you nowehere mate!

Hi Veronica.
Actually God did exist, and mankind still thought that it was necessary to invent one in it's own image and likeness.
This is how we ended up with the silly idea of a judgmental, Punishing God, when we already had an unconditionally loving One.

No because if God didn't exist we wouldn't be here right now this world would be empty.... And no mankind can invent God because nobody has the knowledge that God does...

If God did not exist, it would be impossible for mankind to conjure him up. Think about it - sensibly.
In the same way, if God does exist, all of the negativism, agnosticism, and unbelief doesn't have the power to kill him.

Mankind invent God because they need it as their temperament.
Be sure that if we don't know God in our ego, we never invent him in the first place.

The question doesn't make sense at all, because if God didn't exist there would be no mankind. How could we have gotten here?

Some sociologist, anthropologists and geneticists have come up with the idea that it is a genetic effect that leaves many of us hardwired for religion. I am not sure where to find it now and am not sure if it is valid. I wont bother to look very hard for it but;

Uh, if God did exist, it would not be necessarily to invent him. If he did exist, everyone would know it.
