I have had the flu for about 4 days now with a very bad earache. My ear now feels blocked. I can hear from it but not as much as the other ear. I know this is normal but are there any other ways in opening it so I can feel the relief!!

Hi you may have developed an ear infection, prob best go to your local pharmacy or make a appointment with g.p to have it checked out. or you could try blowing out hard while holding to nose to pop your ears then try yawn after to see if that helps a little, good luck xx

the body is incredibly complex. There are "sinus" cavities all over the head, and any time any of them get congested it causes problems. It sounds like a basic drainage problem. I have had good results with a.) gargling salt water B,) nasal lavage (that's french) where you mix up salt water to where it barely tastes salty, then breathe it up your nose (while your head is over the sink, and then you let all the salt water come out your nose and mouth---it is gross, but helps) and C.) putting hydrogen peroxide in a COOL MIST humidifier which I then run at night in my bedroom while I sleep.

Try chewing something that requires you to use your jaw a lot, like hard toffee - the movement from this helps unblock your ear and also helps with blocked sinuses. Sounds mad .......... but it works!!
