250 million Christians worldwide will face persecution in 2007, simply for following Jesus Christ, according to persecution watchdog, Release International. In particular it was found that persecution is growing the fastest in the Muslim world.
Release has found that most persecution takes place in four distinct ‘zones’: those of Islam, Communism, Hinduism and Buddhism. But persecution is growing fastest of all in the Muslim world.

Governments in even moderate Muslim countries often fail to safeguard the rights of their Christian minorities, explains RI. Abuses suffered by Christians include kidnapping, forced conversion, imprisonment, church destruction, torture, rape and execution.
One of the world’s worst abusers of religious freedom is Saudi Arabia, guardian of Islam’s holiest sites Mecca and Medina. But some of the most violent persecution in the Muslim world is beyond government control.

The question is what can be done to prevent so many persecutions?

Prayer to God almighty. Only God can stop this hatred in all camps. It will come one day, but between now and then prayer is the strongest tool we have. The next strongest tool is ourselves. We can work very hard for those who need it throughout the world. There are thousands now who are doing just that and there will always be thousands of Christians and non Christians who will and do work very hard for the oppressed of hard regimes.
Two hundred and seventy million? Good God! I was told some years back that we are the most persecuted but I did no think it was that bad!!

Well, at the very least, if what Chris said is true, then he's been persecuting me and every other Catholic on the planet for quite some time now. I generally think of being killed or exiled for your faith, or treated like a second class citizen as being persecuted. But if being called "whore" or "cult member" or "satanist" is persecution, then I've been persecuted. People have refused to even speak with me when they found out I was Catholic, and I was forbidden from dating a girl when her parents found that out too. Other than that, it hasn't been so bad. But I do see the verbal assaults as rather troublesome. I was the kid everyone else made fun of when I was younger. I kind of figured that when I grew up, so too would other people, and the mockery would stop - but only the words used have changed. The ironic thing is that ALL of this "persecution" has come from my fellow Christians.

our doors need be open to be able to allow those who flee to have somewhere to go....

right now, immigration laws for religious persection are so strict that it is almost impossible to proove the case. people can wander in across our borders and stay, but someone fleeing for their life will probably be rejected. christians have to first proove they are christians by providing a baptismal certificate, which they may not be able to obtain in a muslim country, and notarized witness statements that they are persecuted...since all government officals are muslims, getting anything notarized is unlikely and dangerous. Plus no witnesses want to risk their lives in order to help others by signing a letter saying that islam is dangerous. on top of all this, the main witesses are the ones that want the christian dead to begin with.

You can't change what has been prophecized by God in the Scritpures, but you have the power to slow things down a bit through prayer. This persectuion is going to take place no matter what. When Chrsitians keep studying the word of God, it is only though that knowledge that we get that we can get through the times we now live in withe Jesus at our side all the way. We dont have to go at it alone. Praise the Lord!

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Honestly ask your self how much do you study God's word every day? I'll bet that most Christians can't pull themselves away from their faviorite TV show every day the way they pull themselves away from studying the word of God daily, pray with out ceasing, pray for our enemies, or even put forth an effort to obey God's word, yet still panic when prophecy comes into our lives and it is very real.

Think about this... You have to build a car or a house, and you have the instruction booklet right in your hands, There is only a certain amount of time you have to build your project, execpt for the fact that you are destracted daily by other interests. In that instruction booklet are the warnings of what not to do so it ensured your saftey, but you skip over that because of those daily destractions.

Along the way you get hurt because you did not read the instructions, and your project is quickly aproaching it's deadline. And the meeting of that deadline is a matter of life and death. The deadline arrives and your project is one great big pile worthless scraps. The penilty for not completing this project on time and not finishing it according to your aggreement or contract is the penalty of death. So is our walk in life with God's plan for us.

Our instruction booklet in life is the Bible. ("BASIC INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE LEAVING EARTH") And guess what... At the end, ever one of us are going to die. It is a fact of life. But the 2 possibilities of where you will be spending your eternity is taught to us in the Bible. You have the freedom to even choose where you are going to spend eternity. Heaven or hell. What you do with the instruction booklet "The BIBLE" is up to you. But when that day comes, and you stand before the throne of Judgement in front of the Lord our God... You cant say "God... I did not read the instruction booklet you gave me" Because He will say this to you...

Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Why?

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven

What can be done to prevent it?
After getting prosecuted, are they not supposed to forgive the prosecutors and don't think about it. You will not feel the pain..
Well, that's what Jesus said I recall. Now, what's your point as a christian?
