I have a 01 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 80k on it. Two days ago the Jeep started to make a whining sound from the front driver side wheel. It does not occur after the Jeep has sat over night but starts after a couple of trips throughout the day and only happens when you reach a speed of 15mph or higher. The tone changes with the speed, and sounds like the dust shield is rubbing against the rubber of the wheel. No change in tone or feel if the wheel is turned left or right. I have checked the tire, dust shield, pads, and calibers then greased all the points possible. No scaring is present on the tire. I am beginning to wonder if it is the Hub and Bearing Assembly. Any thoughts before I replace this part?

It could be the bearing just starting to go bad, you could check the tire again, jack up the wheel and run your hand along the surface of the the tread if it feels choppy that could be a source for the noise.

You stated it incredibly is interior the rear drivers factor so i might might desire to declare it incredibly is a bad wheel bearing. in case you turn corners can collectively as holding street velocity, are you able to hearken to the noise replace? With the automobile stopped, are you able to experience circulation interior the rear wheels in case you attempt to lead them to circulate? If the noise is interior the differential the noise can replace between acceleration, cruising and coasting. A transmission challenge is maximum probable to be greater obvious based which kit it incredibly is in yet shouldnt be ruled out. desire I even have helped.
