I am sorry, but Christianity IS a religion. It is not a personal relationship with anybody. It is a religion, like other religions, built on faith in the mute invisible.
Oh, sin shmin. The only wrong is hurting someone or yourself. Such superstition to see "sin" as anything else, to see it as a thing that can be "bought" by someone's death. You know, "God" just wouldn't be the tyrant Christianity claims. It's 2007. Mankind needs to learn to use its brain a little more in terms of his place in the cosmos.

Well, isn't that special.
We should all stop what we're doing and join your club because your particular books says it's the right path? Spirituality is man's attempt to reach "God". Religion is man's attempt to impose his belief upon others.
I have a relationship with the Divine, have had it since I was born. The fact that you seem to think you need to be in a group for the Divine to love you is ...............well......................interesting to be polite.
In the Aramaic Language and culture that Jesus taught in, the terms for "sin" and "evil" were archery terms. When the archer shot at the target and missed the scorekeeper yelled the Aramaic word for sin. It meant that you were off the mark, take another shot. The concept of sin was to be positive mental feedback. Sin is when you are operating from inaccurate information and thus a perceptual mis-take. When you become conscious and aware if the results of your inaccuracy you have the option to reconsider what you have learned and do as they do in Hollywood, "do another take." By the way, where the arrow fell when it missed the target was referred to as evil.

Religion means, by definition, "Demonstration of faith" God does want us to be demonstrative of our faith. Organized religion however is something different. I am religious in the sense that I am demonstrative of my faith, this is all part of having a relationship with God. I am not part of any organized religion, not that being part of one is a bad thing, but to be religious of your organized religion, is to have the personal relationship with the Religion, instead of God. Just as an example, if a person is Catholic, and their demonstration of faith is to walk with Christ, to love others, to learn God's word, pray and praise God.... this is a good thing. If their demonstration of faith is to have all the statues, read doctrine that is not Biblical, hold it in higher regards than what IS Biblical, praise the religion they belong to, pray to anyone else besides God.... this is what God doesn't want.

The first thing that someone should be considering is whether the idea of sin is actually real.
If God is supposed to be perfect how could She have made anything or anyone that wasn't perfect.
Think about it. The idea of sin assumes certain things about God that seem highly unlikely.
First it assumes a God who is too incompetent to organize a simple educational field excursion and figure out a way to get all of the students home safely.
How likely is this that God would not be smart enough to come up with a plan for our salvation that is going to work?
It also assumes that God must have created us imperfect if we are sinners.
One might assume that God would be able to create someone perfect each and every time if he chose to. Assuming God is capable of this, then it follows logically that we must be perfect creations if we are actually creations of this perfect God.
Unless of course you are saying that God chose to create us imperfect.
If God created us imperfect then anything that may go wrong is Gods fault, not ours. This seems a bit illogical at best so I think that we need to assume that What God creates would have to be perfect.
If this is the case and Gods creations are perfect, then nothing that we can do could change what God created perfect and make it imperfect unless we think that we are more powerful than God is.
How likely is it that we the creation could be more powerful than the creator. I personally find this idea somewhat amusing, and a bit absurd.
Religion tells us that God is perfect. If this is true then it could hardly be logically for Gods creations to be considered to be anything less than perfect.
If this is the case and we are perfect creations of a perfect God then Nothing that we can ever do could possibly change this perfection that God willed, unless we were so powerful that our choices could override and change the will of God.
How likely is that????
Think about it.
The idea of sin is simple nonsense; a lie made up about God by religion.

Stop fooling yourself. Christianity is a religion. Religions are mans interactions with the infinite. Yours is an indirect interaction but nevertheless an interaction and a religion. If it makes you feel better call it what you like but it is a religion.
