I am an athiest but don't hide it. One day my brother in law who always goes to church and I had always had assumed to be a devout christian told me he was an atheist too but not to tell his wife. So Yes. Maybe its much more common than we think. If he can be a closet atheist anyone can. He is afraid because if he let it be known he is an atheist his wife might divorce him.

From what I've seen, in quite a lot of Bible-bashing families, atheist kids are forced into going Church by their God fearing parents.

Not me personally, I'm not atheist, but my brother does. He is an atheist, but when he comes home from college he just can't let his beliefs be known to our parents. My Dad is a Pastor with his doctorate in the Lutheran Church. He sits there and acts like he goes along with it all. Pretty sad in my opinion, he is 23, went to war in Iraq but can't tell his parents how he feels.

Atheists? Not sure, but I know of many agnostics whose families are aware of their beliefs who will attend with their families because it is good to accompany their children to church. I'm glad for this as I see it as a way to perhaps become enlightened, to actually realize there is God our Father!

well my family is Hindu, and I never go to temple

It's hard when your family is really religious, when I told them that I'm an agnostic they got really angry, so I never bring up religion, I go along with the holidays and that's about it, I find hinduism interesting anyways, but not as a religion, from philosophy and cultural point

I used to go to church with my grandma, but I wasn't afraid to tell her that religion wasn't for me. She took it fine, and so did the rest of my family.

I'm sure there are some. I'm not sure why you would want to hide it from your family though.
