1/4 lb. per person is plenty. If you have a salad and some garlic bread this will fill up the biggest eaters.

I would guestimate that 1/2 of a 1 pound box of pasta would be sufficient for 2 people. After reading the other answers posted, it would seem that I am correct. 1/4 pound or 4 ounces dry per person is an appropriate amount.

For men, a serving of pasta is one cup COOKED. For women, a serving is 1/2 cup COOKED.

So to make 1-1/2 cups of cooked pasta, you put in about 3/4 of a cup of uncooked pasta.

This works for angel hair pasta/spagetti pasta-(in lame terms :p )The thing is that you need to use the "O" method. Which is your thumb touching your pointy finger making of course an "O" -As much pasta you can place within that "O" space is how much per person should have or one "O" per person. Get it? Hope that helps :)

I would cook a half pound of pasta, I have a family of five to cook for, myself, my husband, and three small boys, and I make one pound and it is plenty for us. I hate having leftovers laying around, because they most likely do not get eaten in my house. So when I cook for just me and my husband I make half the box of a one pound box.

I'd go with 100 grams of dried pasta per person too.

It'a a buck a box. Cook the whole box, I know it seems like a waste, but pasta reheats very well.

Roughly 200 gms dry weight is enough for Fusilli ( 100 gm /person) . Add to boiling water with a little salt and boil for about 8-10 minutes. Check for al dente ( just floppy between hard and soft) then drain.

read the pack..

I assume you can read? (although it does seem doubtful in the modern world

most pasta manufacturers reccomend around 100g per person of dry pasta.

always go by the weight, a small fistfull is irrelevant unelss you are comparing the same type of pasta.. 100g of shaped pasta like macaroni, Conchinelle will take up more volume than say Spaghetti or Lasagne....

I cook 12 oz. for the two of us. He eats probably 6 oz. worth, I eat about 3 oz., and then the rest is leftovers for me the next day for lunch. So 12 works out well for us and our appetites.
