I have travelled to Beijing several times, and I always use http://www.hostelbeijing.com to book my hostel room. Zen hostelry seems to be a new one, but since it is on the site I use, I assume that it is probably acceptable. The only problem I see with it, is that it does not show a map with a precise location, so it is difficult to tell if it is close to any of the major tourist location (ie.. tianamen square/forbidden city)
I am sure that youw ill have no major problems if you choose to stay there, but personnally, I would take a look at the Leo, Jade, or City Central international youth hostels. I have stayed at all 3 of these, and I have found that the service is great, the location is superb, and the quality of the rooms far accedes the price.
The Leo is the cheapest, and probably the most fun, as it is located on a walking street and hutong area, and you can walk to tianamen square. The Jade is a 3 star hotel in disguise, located close to Wanfujing street (major foreign shopping street) and the City Central is accross from the main train station, subway, and close to an airport shuttle...sort of easy access to everything.
These are the only three that i have stayed in (that I would recommend)
What ever you choose, have fun, and book the roomd through the site I listed above. It is cheapest you can find in Beijing.
