According to baseball wiki:

Leonard dug his own grave by stating he threw a game in 1919 with Ty Cobb and Tris Speaker. Cobb and Speaker were exonerated. Leonard came forward after the 1926 season with letters regarding the issue. Speaker's team had second place locked. The Tigers were trying to win third place money (there was no fourth place money). A fixed game could give the Tigers third. Joe Wood, Speaker's long-time teammate & roommate, was also supposedly involved. As related in Judge Landis & 25 Years of Baseball, Cobb and Speaker, both player-managers, were released by their teams after the 1926 season. Wood was already out of baseball. Leonard, himself, was out of baseball.
