I'm learning English, I don't know ho to tell from on, about, regarding etc.

the 3 sentences below which are correct?

the department collects information about political extremists.
the department collects information regarding political extremists.

could you tell me why?

All three are correct.

A further correct version would have been "concerning political extremists".

They are all correct inasmuch as they mean the same thing.

"Regarding" is 'more' correct - it is more formal than the others.
