Most churches do not have a set fee, although they ask for donations. After all, churches do not build themselves, heat and electricity cost money etc. My wife and I had our son baptized last year. I seem to remember giving the church $50 and giving the priest another $20. I cannot say that this is the right amount, but I think it is in the ballpark.
Congratulations.

A priest does not expect anything for a babtism. Just do your usual tithing of 10% and you should be good to go. For those who cannot do the 10%, give what you are comfortable in giving. The only times a priest is sometimes paid is for weddings and funerals as that payment goes to the church.

Average is $50. ......however..I could never understand why a priest./minister/church should charge anything for a person that decides to make a public proclamation that they are "burying" their old self and ways and starting a new life.

You shouldn't have to pay anything. All this time I thought god was all about love not money.

In our church, you would not be asked to pay anything. If you would like to make a donation to the church, it is always appreciated.
