I use rubbing alcohol to remove the adhesive. I wouldn't use it on wood though, I'm not sure if it would damage it. What kind of surface are we talking about?

Both Goo-Gone and Desolvit work to remove the adhesive from stickers and are safe for most surfaces. You can find them both at Walmart or most grocery stores.

WD-40 removes stickers AND crayon from just about any imagineable surface. Just spray on the sticker and let it soak thru, about 2-5min. then peel off. If you start to peel it off & it still doesnt want to budge spray again&let soak another 5 min. This has removed stickers off of everything from my grandmothers antique dresser, to the tinted windows on my car with NO surface damage! (Also, removes crayon from t.v. screens!!)
