I'm meeting a friend this Sunday at Oxford. Neither of us know the place and both of us will be driving so we need somewhere easy for to find.

Not the University... As most of the Town is university buildings!
I think Wardstar14 is having you on...

I would say a word of warning - if you're driving to Oxford, especially if it's only for the day, use the Park and Ride - I used to live and work in Oxford and anywhere inside the ring road is an absolute NIGHTMARE if you're a driver - it's very much geared toward pedestrians and pedal cycles.

Places to go once you're there however - there're some nice places to have a snack and browse about in the Covered Market (accessible off the High Street, aka 'the High'). You might be able to find parking spaces near the Ashmolean or Pitt-Rivers museums, though the meters aren't cheap and be wary of the voucher areas - they're strictly patrolled.

However, if you think you've got the parking sorted and just want some nice places to go, then, try (1) the Bodleian Library - it's dead easy to find - (2) Oxford Cathedral - relatively small but very nice. If you're into church music, St Mary's near the Bod has some good choral evenings and Evensongs. Or (3) possibly the best is the Carfax Tower - it's right at the hub of everything and most people who are even vaguely familiar with the are will be able to direct you there.

You'll have a great day, whatever the weather's doing - Enjoy!

Parking in central Oxford is difficult, maybe you could meet at one of the Park & Ride sites (see link below).

The Peartree, Seacourt, Redbridge and Thornhill sites are all open on a Sunday and the buses run into central Oxford approximately every 15 minutes.

Theres a service area just off the A34 near Kidlington (A44/A40 junction). Its right next to one of the Park and rides but doesn't get that busy so theres loads of parking and you're less likely to miss one another.
Its got loos and a cafe which might be handy if you've had a long drive.
