How do you retrain a 2 yr old to be a little more of a heavier sleeper. When she was little her mother made the house so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Now when she comes to the house with my fiance she wakes if the wind blows. I am not used to this since my sone would sleep thru a train coming thru the house. He is a very sound sleeper since I ran the vacuum and had the lights on played the radio or the tv always had noise going on when he slept. But this is all so different and difficult.

Try buying some classical music or something easy listening and start out playing it low in the background as she goes to sleep then increase the volume in about a week and keep doing this for about a month or so. You should go on with your daily routine at nap time and at bedtime. The longer you go the sounder she will sleep.

I would attempt to introduce more sound gradually. Play some music on a low volume setting while the child sleeps and increase it ever so slightly day by day. You could just leave the child alone when he wakes up from his nap if he is in a crib or playpen. If he is crying he should eventually give up and go to sleep. It sounds mean but constantly giving into every whine is not going to help him.

It'll be hard, but I'd say start out with really soft noises in the background, then build up to louder ones. Maybe put a CD player in her room with a recording of ocean noises or something. That will both help block out outside noise and if you start it low then turn it up just a little every few days may help her get used to louder noise.
